Why take out one-day car insurance?
Have you bought and imported your dream car from abroad? Then the vehicle must first be inspected by the RDW (Netherlands Vehicle Authority) before it can be driven on the road. Make an appointment for this on the RDW website. You will then also apply for a one-day registration plate. At this point, it is important to arrange car insurance for the day of the inspection. You will need an international insurance certificate for the car. Even if the car is insured for just one day.
Some insurers offer free insurance, but only if you also take out your permanent registration insurance with them. But is that really in your best interest? Surely, you want the freedom to choose your own car insurance provider?
