Is your garage insurance still up to scratch?

At the end of the year, you have the option of switching health insurance. Comparing providers well is a must. But do you do the same for your garage insurance? Ask yourself the questions below and you will know whether your garage insurance is still up to scratch.

Question 1: What parts make up garage insurance?

Is it only a business liability insurance, or are there also additional insurances included? Such as employer's liability for motor vehicle drivers or damage to and theft of customers' cars.

Question 2: Are all company stock cars automatically registered?

Is this the case, or do you have to do this manually? Make sure you register both your driving and non-driving cars.

Question 3: Does the insurance premium include or exclude insurance tax (21%)?

When taking out insurance, check whether the premium is inclusive or exclusive of insurance tax. This will also tell you the amount that will appear on the invoice.

Question 4: do you need to take into account additional charges in the event of underinsurance?

Do you pay a fixed premium with the risk of being underinsured? Or is the premium variable as it is adjusted monthly to your actual stock?

Question 5: can you apply for and manage the insurance yourself?

Can you easily take out insurance online, or does this have to be done through an intermediary? And can you make or notify of changes in the meantime?

Please also take into account the so-called small print and clauses. Also, consider how the insurer is known for settling claims. If you check the garage insurance on these points, you can be sure you're making the right choice.
