Ukrainian vehicles must have Dutch registration plates by 4 March 2025
It has been three years since Russian troops invaded Ukraine. Many residents of Ukraine came to the Netherlands during that time to escape the violence of war. Did you flee Ukraine and bring your car with you to the Netherlands? Please note: no later than 4 March 2025, your vehicle must have a Dutch number plate. From that date, you must also pay motor vehicle tax.

New license plate combination 2024
On Tuesday afternoon, the National Road Administration presented the new license plate combination and issued the first number plate. The new number plates consist of three letters, two digits and end with a letter. The series is expected to last for eight years.

‘License Plate Lookup’ and ‘iKenteken’ become ‘Finnik Kenteken’ together’
The Netherlands' two biggest license plate apps, Kenteken Opzoeken and iKenteken, are now merging into one app: the Finnik Kenteken app. This updated version offers new features in addition to the information from the existing apps. Such as checking how often your own car is spotted, the current trade-in value and the status of the number plate. Finnik, which produces 33 million car reports for consumers every year, offers a total overview of relevant car information with this updated app.
