National Occasion Survey 2023

In the occasion market, we are in an exciting new phase. After the unexpected peaks and troughs triggered by the pandemic, we are now shifting to a landscape with new opportunities as well as challenges. This research is the guide for all occasion traders in our country.

Striking trends in the used car market

The National Used Car Research 2023 is a collaboration between trade magazine Automobiel Management and vehicle data expert VWE Automotive.

This research shows a number of striking trends:

  • Companies are seeing their business inventories rise, while at the same time used car prices have been falling since the start of the year.;
  • the import of cars in almost all age categories is declining;
  • a shift towards EVs and (Plug-in) Hybrid vehicles, and
  • the decrease in the export of petrol cars.

Eleventh edition

This is the eleventh edition of the National Used Car Survey, developed
By VWE and Automotive Management. The most comprehensive reference work for the used passenger car market in the Netherlands. The analyses are based on the VWE database, built from various data sources, including the RDW register, which VWE has access to as a provider. We focus on the years 2020, 2021, 2022, and the first months of 2023, to interpret the most current trends and developments.
