What do you need to sort out?
- Apply for BPM exemption. You can apply for an exemption from BPM (motor vehicle and motorcycle tax) from the Tax Administration.
- Inspection at the RDW. Have your vehicle inspected at the RDW. This is necessary to obtain a Dutch registration number.
- Filing for BPM tax. After inspection, you file for BPM tax with the Tax Administration.
- Get number plates made
Once you have the vehicle registration certificate, you can have number plates made. - Take out insurance. You must take out Dutch car insurance.
- MOT inspection (if required). Is your vehicle older than 3 or 4 years? Then you may need to have an MOT inspection carried out.
- Pay motor vehicle tax (mrb). After registration, you will automatically receive a bill for the mrb.
