Vignette Switzerland
Avoid hefty fines in Switzerland and have a stress-free journey on the motorways. Order your vignette easily and securely online.
You need a vignette for Switzerland because it is a toll sticker that is required for using most motorways and expressways in Switzerland. It's essentially a pre-paid road tax. You can purchase it at border crossings, petrol stations, and post offices.
Are you travelling to Switzerland by car or motorbike soon? Then you will need a vignette. An autobahn vignette has been compulsory in Switzerland since 1985 for all vehicles up to 3500 kg. This also applies to trailers, such as caravans. Are you going away with a caravan? Then you will need to purchase an additional vignette for this. If there is no toll vignette stuck to the inside of your windscreen? Then you risk a fine of €200.
Avoid this fine and quickly and safely apply for a Swiss vignette.
The Swiss motorway vignette is valid for 14 months. Validity begins on 1 December of the preceding year and ends on 31 January of the following year.
The Switzerland 2026 vignette is valid from 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2027 and available until 30 November 2026. From 1 December 2026, you can purchase the Switzerland 2027 vignette, which will then be valid until 31 January 2028.
Useful to know
The vignette must be clearly visible. That's why there are special sticking rules for it. Read them below:
- You do not need a vignette if you avoid the motorways.
- For a caravan up to 3500 kg, a separate vignette applies
- Vehicles weighing more than 3500 kg must pay an additional fee instead of a vignette. The amount depends on the length of stay.
- It is mandatory to remove expired vignettes
- The vignette is not linked to your number plate
- Border vignettes are more expensive
- It is forbidden to reuse the vignette for another vehicle
- If you drive without a vignette, you risk a fine of 200 CHF (approximately 200 EUR).
- Keep the proof of purchase so you can claim on the insurance for glass breakage
