What is a Type Approval Data Certificate?
When exporting a passenger car abroad and applying for a registration there, a Type Approval Data Certificate is often requested. The information on the Type Approval Data Certificate can be compared to that of a CVO (Certificaat Van Overeenstemming) or COC (Certificate Of Conformity) statement. This statement contains the technical information required to register the car.
Please note: Becomes not Accepted in Croatia, Spain, France, and Portugal! For acceptance in Germany, an original COC from the factory or a data sheet from TÜV or Dekra is required.

The Type Approval Data Certificate (VTG) is only available for passenger vehicles with a Dutch license plate from model year 1996 onwards. Unfortunately, applications for commercial vehicles, motorcycles, caravans, trailers, or classic cars cannot be processed by VWE.
The Type Approval Data Certificate comes with a ‘money-back guarantee’. To make use of this, the original certificate must be returned within 15 days. In addition, a written explanation stating the reason for refusal must be included, along with the contact details.
